Description from Tim's website:
Master Craftsman Cabinet Maker & Furniture Designer Maker
Tim has been making furniture to his own unique designs for many years & his early interest in working with wood came from his knowledge of his mother’s ancestors, who were highly skilled ecclesiastical woodcarvers.
He started making pieces as a youngster with the guidance of his father, a very able amateur woodworker with a home workshop & after leaving Art College, Tim decided to combine his creative ability with the skills he’d developed over the years & this background lends artistic expression to many of his pieces.
Working conventionally ‘by hand and eye’ he makes both contemporary and traditional pieces & as well as making to order, he makes items for sale directly from his workshop & these furniture designs are generally ‘one-off’ pieces.
Tim uses time-honoured methods & the finest quality woods & his skill & commitment to maintaining the very highest standards are self-evident in his work. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London advised Tim some years ago to sign all his work – in fact he has always done so, with his carved acorn ‘makers mark’.
Most of Tim’s clients are commissioning furniture for their homes, but he also makes pieces for exhibition & for corporate & public settings, as well as for places of worship & he feels very privileged to have created pieces for Hereford Cathedral & for numerous churches.
Whether you choose to buy pieces available from his workshop or would prefer to commission bespoke furniture, Tim’s stylish and imaginative creations will be made to perfectly suit your requirements and to enhance the spaces for which they are destined & he hopes that they will be well loved for generations to come.
ABOUT THE MAKING
If you would like something made from your own felled trees then as long as the timber is sound & has been planked & sufficiently seasoned, Tim will be pleased to advise on whether it will be suitable for the furniture project you have in mind.
The timber that Tim buys from his suppliers is certified by them as having come from sustainable sources & pieces cut away during making are never wasted – off-cuts that are unsuitable or too small for other uses become firewood, whilst sawdust is given away freely.
Working with timbers of various kinds, when making to order Tim is usually asked to apply the same clear ‘satin finish’ cellulose lacquer which he uses for most pieces & this particular finish will have been applied to all the furniture available for sale from his workshop.
