A 19th century mahogany writing table by Holland & Sons of London.

Holland & Sons was recorded in the Lord Chamberlain’s accounts 1846-65 working at Osborne House, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Balmoral.

The turned legs raised on quality brass castors, single frieze drawer with impressed maker's mark, well figured overhanging top with bracket supports. One of the original drawer knobs has been replaced.

The castors are stamped Cope & Collinson who made the finest castors of the Victorian era, their work was so good they were the only company Howard & Son’s would allow to make castors for their furniture.

Holland & Sons mark over stamped by the retailer J Davis & Co but still discernible.
